The Dolphin Research Institute and the Two Bays Whale Project in collaboration with Wildlife Coast Cruises have catalogued over 100 ID tail fluke images in Victorian waters which will help understand and protect humpback whales. This amazing effort also highlights a great example of citizen science and communities who care and work together to report sightings and share photos.
If you would like to get involved, you can log your sighting on Pod Watch which can be found on the Dolphin Research Institute’s website.
The best land based locations in the two bay’s region to spot whales are Barwon Bluff, Port Phillip Heads, Cape Schanck, The Nobbies, Pyramid Rock, Cape Woolamai on Phillip Island and the Bass coast.
Always a special moment to catch a glimpse and beautiful photo Wildlife Coast Cruises x 🐋🐋🐋
