Reasons we love being a part of the slow jewellery movement

For starters, this philosophy of jewellery making suits sea glass! Nature slowly crafts discarded bottles and glassware from bygone eras over decades, even centuries and reshapes them patiently over time as beach found treasures.

It’s a mindful approach to jewellery design, searching the shoreline for sea glass, pulling a design out of imagination, handcrafting it in the studio using traditional tools and making it real.

We don’t mass produce. We create in small batches using recycled silver from ethical sources and focus on one offs and custom pieces. It also means we use less energy and waste fewer materials because we have to sell everything we make without tons of leftover stock. Given every piece of sea glass is different we photograph each individual piece of jewellery on the water’s edge for our website and our cabinet at Artisan's Alley Mornington- we choose not to use stock photos as it won’t look the same.

Each sea glass find had a story before being given a second chance by nature. This adds another layer of time to its journey. Once a handblown bottle or heirloom tableware piece, then tossed in the tides and reimagined.

In a world where trends are constantly changing, we want our sea glass jewellery to stand for something different.  Our philosophy is about resisting haste, sustainable focus, timeless design and a story of transformation.

Thank you for taking the time to connect with our sea glass jewellery. If you would like to see more of what we do, you can find our designs here x
